MIDDLETOWN – Frances “Fran” Matilda Leinpinsel Howell, 79, of Middletown, NY died on Saturday, July 25th, 2015 after a brief illness. Fran died at her home, Middletown Park Manor surrounded by her children.
Fran was born October 26, 1935 at Bennett Hospital in Middletown, NY. Fran was the daughter of late Agnes (Horan) and Frederick Leinpinsel. She grew up in Wurtsboro, NY and graduated from Monticello High School. She attended Orange County Community College. She married Albert D. Howell on November 16th, 1957. Fran after marrying Albert moved to Warwick, NY. She and Albert owned and operated Crystal Brook Farm. It was there she started her family and her four children were born. She lived in Warwick until after the death of her husband, Albert in March of 1966.
Fran’s most important jobs was making sure that her four beautiful children were taken care of and raised properly and to be being the proud grandma of her wonderful grandchildren. She loved celebrating each of the children and grandchildren’s accomplishments from graduations, to getting a new job, receiving an award, reading an article that they wrote or attending their wedding. Fran was an avid Bingo player. She was considered the unofficial manager of the singer Johnny Jakes. Fran was a very giving person and loved to volunteer her time along with giving out small gifts to make people smile. Fran loved to socialize with staff and friends at Middletown Park Manor. Prior to retiring Fran was a loan officer at a bank and did bookkeeping for many local businesses.
She is survived by her four children her daughter Katherine Pitsker and her husband Andrew of Vernon, NJ; her son Mark Howell and his wife Lauren of Norwich, NY, her daughter Nancy Howell of Kingston, NY; and her daughter Patricia Exman and her husband Peter, of Bloomington, NY. She has 5 grandchildren: Jill Tedlock and her husband Collin of Manhattan, NY; Kaitlin Pitsker of Arlington, VA; Paul Exman of Speculator, NY; Brian Howell of Kingston, NY; and Lee Exman of Bloomington, NY. Frances is also survived by two sisters, Jane McClure and her husband Dennis of Kingston, NY; Linda Pacion and her husband Henry of Middletown, NY; and a brother Thomas Leinpinsel and his wife Roseanne of Middletown, NY. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins along with Park Manor family.
She was predeceased by her brother Frederick Leinpinsel and her sister Agnes “Lolly” Peets.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, July 29th from 2-4pm and 6-8 p.m. at the Morse Funeral Home Inc., 33 Railroad Avenue, Middletown, NY. Funeral Services will be held 11am on Thursday, July 30th at Morse Funeral home with burial at Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown, NY.
