MICHAEL C. BUCKEL
ORMOND BEACH, FL – Michael C. Buckel, 75 of Ormond Beach, Florida and former Norwich resident, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at Bridgeview Care Center, Ormond Beach.
Michael was born February 26, 1940 in Oxford, New York to Frank and Marie (Rivers) Buckel.
For forty-one years, he was an inspector in different divisions of five companies, retiring from GE.
Upon his retirement, he and his wife, Pearl relocated to Ormond Beach from Norwich, New York. Michael was a real sports fan, especially when it came to football and baseball. He played high school tennis and refereed high school sports.
He was an avid bowler, and he and his team were voted into the Norwich, NY Bowling Hall of Fame.
Michael was also a member of the Union Congregational Church, UCC, Holly Hill, Florida, where he enjoyed singing in their choir.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Pearl Buckel of Ormond Beach, his son, Michael A. Buckel of Greene, New York, four step-sons, Kevin (Lori) Moon of N. Pitcher, NY, Timothy Moon of Lebanon, NY, Roy (Debbie) Moon of Norwich, NY, and Thomas Moon of Earlville, NY as well as five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four nieces and their husbands.
A Memorial Service for Mike will be held on Monday, July 27 at 11:00 am at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Heath will officiate. Interment will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Monday from 10-11 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Michael’s memory to Union Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 1050 Daytona Ave., Holly Hill, FL 32117.
