Vivian Breslin


NORTH NORWICH – Vivian W. Breslin, 94, of North Norwich, passed away Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
The daughter of Benjamin and Mabel Gilette Wilber, Vivian was born and raised in Gilbertsville, and was a member of the last graduating class of the Gilbertsville Academy. Her family enjoyed hearing her stories of growing up on the family farm and riding her horse to school every day. Very devoted to her religion, Vivian belonged to the Gilbertsville Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She later moved to the greater Norwich area, working for several local businesses including W.T. Grant and Hamilton House.
In retirement, Vivian moved to North Norwich where she enjoyed her family and her garden and was a member of the United Methodist Church. A stern but fun-loving lady, Vivian enjoyed people and was always on hand to assist those in need.
Vivian is survived by her children: Janice Thacker of Huntington, W. Va., Raymond “Thunder” Musson and wife Shirley of Gilbertsville, Ramona Pike of North Norwich, and Ron Musson and wife Mary of Chenango Lake; her sister, Frances Hellmers of Quincy, Pa. and brother, Vernon Wilber and wife Lesa of Unadilla. Also surviving are eight grand- and eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Vivian was recently predeceased by her son-in-law, Roger Pike.
A celebration of life for Vivian will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Gilbertsville Baptist Church. The Rev. Randolph Palada, pastor of the Gilbertsville Baptist Church and the Rev. Richard Anderson, pastor of the North Norwich United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery of Otego.
There will be no calling hours.
