Andrew Levix

ANDREW LEVIX
It is with heavy hearts the family of Andrew Levix announces his departure from this life and entry into the house of the Lord on Friday, June 19, 2015, to be with his parents and beloved wife Jean. Andrew was born on October 21, 1928 to William and Rose Levix on Long Island, NY. Andy lost his parents at a very young age and for a short time lived with his future wife’s parents Edward and Louise Coles, whom he grew to love as his own family.
Andrew and Jean made their home in Norwich in the early 1960’s, first working for many years at HGH Construction then as a private contractor in the Norwich area. You could see him anywhere around the city carrying his toolbox from job to job. He also worked with his longtime friend, Charles Peters at Chenango Glass helping to install windows and mirrors throughout the county. Andrew loved to walk and could be seen walking from one end of the city to the other almost any day of the week. Upon retirement Andy continued to walk uptown and to the stores. He could frequently be seen taking his daily trek to TOPS to buy his scratch-offs and visit with his many friends.
Growing up on Long Island, one of Andy’s loves was baseball. He recounted many stories of going into the “city” to watch the Mets, the Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers. He and Jason shared a love of the Mets and would watch the games together, commiserating when they lost and celebrating when they won. They made many trips to Binghamton to watch the B-Mets play live and to enjoy that “take me out to the ballgame” sensation.
Andrew was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean on July 14, 1990.
Andrew is survived by his sons Andrew and Denise Levix, William and Bernadette Levix, daughters Debbie Malgonado, Wanda Levix and Randy Buck, Wendy and Wade White and a step-daughter Sharon and Thomas Jones. Andy is also survived by his “special son” his grandson Jason and his wife Jessica with whom he shared a home. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Drew Levix, Holly and Mike Lees, Jack Levix, Erica Jones, Kellie and Daniel McNelly, Kyle and Charlie Levix, Jessica Levix, Barbara and Anthony Hawthorne, Richard and Chelsea Shepard, Brandy King, Ryan White and Alisha White. He is also survived by a growing number of grandchildren.
Andy is also survived by one sister Rosemary and Robert Whalen, one brother John (Jack) Levix and was predeceased by one brother Vincent (Vinnie) Levix.
As his family, we do not ask for condolences or your sadness. We wish, instead, to focus and celebrate the special loving man.
Services of remembrance will be private.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815
Arrangements are with the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home.
