Rupert P. Pearson


LINCKLAEN – Rupert P. Pearson, 86, of Lincklaen, passed away Wednesday, June 17 at his home. He was born in Lincklaen and had retired as a shipping and receiving clerk at Gladding in South Otselic and also was a farmer.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of Korea and was a member of the Perry Cook Post 973 American Legion in South Otselic for 56 years, many of which he served as chaplain. Rupert was a member of the local band Country Bumpkins and loved to raise animals. Rupert always said “Vice Grips and duct tape can fix anything.”
Surviving his wife of 51 years Katheryn of Lincklaen; daughters Holly (Michael) Harris of DeRuyter, Donna (Tom) Shedd of Middletown, MD, Rovena (Gene) Mead of DeRuyter, Rebeca (Wesley) Palmer of Lincklaen; 13 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Services will be Monday June 22 at 11 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, DeRuyter. Burial will be in Lincklaen Center Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday June 21 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Perry Cook American Legion Post 973, South Otselic, N.Y. or the Arthritis Foundation of C.N.Y.
