KENNETH A. STEIN
OXFORD/PRESTON – Kenneth A. Stein, 82, a longtime resident of the Oxford-Preston area, passed away Saturday evening, June 13, 2015, at his home with his family at his side.
Ken was born in Greene on March 30, 1933 the son of Arthur and Fern (Agnes) Brown Stein. He spent the early years of his life in Greene where he attended the local school. On November 24, 1955 he married Bessie French who passed away December 17, 2005. In 1957 Ken and his wife moved from Greene to the Preston area where he purchased a farm which they operated for many years. He then became employed by the Town of Preston Highway Dept. where he served as Superintendent for 28 years. In his spare time Ken enjoyed country music, dancing, hunting and fishing. Preston Pride Park was very near and dear to his heart and he enjoyed helping out with the park whenever time allowed.
Ken is survived by his children; Hope Ives of Johnson City, Charles Stein Sr. and wife Tracey of Oxford, Korina Whaley and husband Ron of Norwich, his grandchildren Scott Ives and wife Ashley, Becky Ives, Kyah Stein, Charles Stein Jr. and wife Randi, Ashley Wright and husband Ryan, Corey Whaley, Michael Whaley and wife Becky and Ronald Whaley Jr. Also surviving are 13 great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his wife Bessie, Ken was predeceased by his brothers Charles, Paul, Ronald, Thure and Robert Stein.
A funeral service for Ken will be held on Thursday, June 18, at 3:00 p.m. from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Frank Walker of will officiate. Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m.
Interment will be in the Sylvan Lawn Cemetery of Greene.
