Rosetta May Strobel


ROSETTA M. STROBEL
Rosetta May Strobel was born on April 19th 1925 to Leon and Marie Phillips Barber in Lebanon NY. Rosetta attended high school in Georgetown. She took work with the Sherburne Knitting Mill where she met her future husband Wesley Strobel (predeceased). On September 4, 1948 Wesley and Rosetta were married and settled in Earlville NY. Rosetta had four children Jerry Barber of Manlius NY, Eugene Strobel of Oxford NY, Yvonne Taylor of Pratts Hollow NY, and Garth Strobel of Georgetown NY. Rosetta had 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters Jessie Mae Fuller and Hazel Johnson.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her employment career included cooking at Earlville Central School, working as a factory worker for BevCase Plastics in Sherburne and Earlville and working for Hamilton hospital where she retired as a cook and baker. She enjoyed time with family, church, cooking, traveling, camping, and fishing. She cared for Wesley during his fight with cancer until his death in 2000. She continued to live in Earlville following Wesley’s death until 2011 when her advanced dementia required her placement into Crouse Community Center in Morrisville. She lived there until her death on June 12, 2015, 15 years to the day after the death of her late husband.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 1 PM from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St. Earlville, NY. Interment will follow in Graham Cemetery, Hubbardsville. Friends are invited and may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
