EDITH B. O’NEIL
NORWICH – Edith B. O’Neil, 95, a life long resident of Norwich, passed away Wednesday evening, June 3, 2015, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital of Norwich.
Edith was born on January 18, 1920 in Norwich the daughter of John and Edith Edmonds Byrne. She was a 1939 graduate of the Norwich High School and furthered her education by attending the Binghamton Beautician School. On August 14, 1946 in Norwich she married Thomas O’Neil who passed away October 27, 1993.
Edith was a strong and valiant woman who always thought of others before herself. She was a life long and faithful member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the church’s Ladies of Charity. For a period of time she owned and operated her own beauty shop from her home.
Edith is survived by her nieces; Anne Marie Mangelli of New Berlin, Sr. Sharon O’Neil OSF of Allegany, Carole Roberts of St. Petersburg, FL and Colleen Sims of Ohio, nephews Timothy O’Neil of Inglis, FL and Richard O’Neil of Jacksonville, FL. Also surviving is her great nephew Mr. & Mrs. Gage Regg and their children Monoah, Jordan, Jesse, Mehki and Cassidy of Watertown.
Besides her husband Thomas, Edith was predeceased by her son Patrick O’Neil, her sisters Anna Byrne and Catherine White and her brother Thomas Byrne.
A Memoria Mass for Edith will be held on Monday, June 15, at 10:00 am from St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Ralph A. Bove, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
