JANICE WACKFORD DAVIS
NORWICH – Janice Wackford Davis, 76 of Norwich passed away peacefully at her home on May 26, 2015 with her family by her side. She was born on September 22, 1938 in Oxford a daughter of the late Kenneth and Naomi (Gifford) Wackford. On September 27, 1956 at the US Navy Submarine Base Chapel in Pearl Harbor, Territory of Hawaii she married Malvin W. Davis.
She is survived by her husband of over 58 years, Malvin W. Davis of Norwich; her children, Kimberlie Ballew of Oklahoma City, OK and Gregory Davis of Norwich; her brothers and sisters in law, Bruce and Louise Wackford of Oxford, Loren and Linda Wackford of Arbutus, MD, and David and Sandy Wackford of Graettinger, IA; her sisters and brothers in law, Carolyn and Clarence Colvin of Lexington Park, MD and Sharon and Jon Robinson of Billings, MT; and her grandson, Christopher Ballew of Oklahoma City, OK. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Wackford and Dale Wackford.
Jan was the Manager of the Blueox Convenience Store in Oxford for over 10 years. She was a member of the Oxford Garden Club, the Oxford Lionettes, where she was treasurer for many years and the Eastside Literary Club. She served the Town of Oxford as a member of the Planning Board and 16 years as Town Justice. She enjoyed gardening and quilting. She enjoyed many summers at Lake Steere. She loved her cats, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She attended morning coffee at Mr. Chubb’s in Oxford for many years.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chenango County SPCA, 6160 County Road 32, Norwich, NY or Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY
