Janice Elizabeth (myers) Yerton

JANICE E. YERTON
SHERBURNE – Janice Elizabeth (Myers) Yerton, 53, of Sherburne, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 after a bravely fought battle with cancer.
She was born August 25, 1961 in Norwich, NY, the daughter of John A. Myers, Jr. and Jean (Parr) Myers. On September 22, 1984, Janice married Dana T. Yerton. They had two sons, Cameron T. Yerton and Jesse J. Yerton. They later divorced.
Janice received her elementary education at St. Paul School in Norwich, attended and graduated from Sherburne-Earlville High School. She was a member of the High School Color Guard for 6 years. She graduated from the John Robert Powers School of Design in Buffalo, NY. She worked for a short time with Decorating Den. Her most recent position was with the Special Education Dept. at S-E, a job she quickly realized was the perfect job for her. She loved her inter-action with all the students at S-E, with whom she shared lots of happy times.
Janice’s greatest achievements were her two boys who grew into the wonderful young men they are today. “I want my boys to know how much I hate to leave them, but they know how much I love them and how I raised them. I want them to remember the good times and how I did my best to provide a good home for them. My wish is for them to grow in kindness and to ‘pay-it-forward’.”
Janice is survived by her sons, Cameron and his fiancée, Lexi of Norwich, Jesse of Morrisville and Sherburne; her mother, Jean Myers of Norwich; her brother, James of Cooperstown; her sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Bernie Tibbens of Sherburne; her niece, Molly Jean Myers of Albany; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. She was predeceased by her father, John Myers in August 2014; her fiancé, John Mancini in June 2009; and a close friend, Helene McCarthy in February 2015.
It is Janice’s wish that there be no service or calling hours. A celebration of her life will be held at the convenience of her family.
“If I should die before the rest of you, break not a flower or inscribe a stone. Nor, when I’m gone, speak in a ‘Sunday voice’, but be the usual selves that I have known. Weep if you must – parting is hell – but life goes on so SING AS WELL. For those who grieve and say ‘She’s gone, know there are others who are smiling and saying, ‘Here she comes’.”
In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the St. Agatha Foundation for Breast Cancer, c/o The National Philanthropic Trust, 165 Township Line Rd., Suite 150, Jenkintown, PA 19046; the American Cancer Society, 5 Oak Ave., Sidney, NY 13838; or Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY.
