IRENE L. LANDERS
OXFORD – Irene L. Landers, 97 of Oxford passed away on May 12, 2015 at Norwich Rehab and Nursing Center. She was born on February 1, 1918 in Norwich a daughter of the late Edward and Hazel (Brown) Barnes. On September 17, 1940 in Oxford she married Roger Landers, who passed away on May 14, 2002.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law Donna and Ed Somers of Oxford; her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Stephen and Shannon Lindridge and children, Isaac and Oren, of Newark Valley Scott and Tina Lindridge and children, Megan, Joshua and Isaiah of Preston, and Chad and Christie Somers and daughter Keira of Preston. She was predeceased by her son Keith Landers.
Irene graduated from Oxford Academy and Central School in 1936. She was a long-time member and Past Matron of Lafayette Chapter #340, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was active in Home Bureau and had also served as an election teller in Oxford for over 25 years.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main Street., Oxford with Rev. Allen C. Lang officiating. Members of Lafayette Chapter will conduct a service prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home on Saturday from Noon until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Fire Department Emergency Squad, PO Box 172, Oxford, NY 13830.
