Charles E. Rogers


OXFORD  – Charles E. Rogers, 74 of Oxford passed away on May 4, 2015 at his home. He was born on June 23, 1940 in Greene a son of the late Robert N. Rogers, Jr. and Florence Perkins Rogers Bluemke. On August 26, 1961 in Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Norwich he married the former Judy Quackenbush, who predeceased him on November 12, 2010.
He is survived by his children, Charles Rogers, Jr. and wife Sandra of Sherburne, and Jonathan Q. Rogers and wife Amy of Norwich; his grandchildren, Megan Marie Rogers and Ryan Collins, Charles Rogers III, Morgan Q. Rogers, Aidan Lee Rogers and Breanna Christine Rogers; his brother, Robert N. Rogers, III, and his sisters in law and brother in law, Sandra and John Shepler and Mary Lou Christman. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Chuck attended Oxford Academy and Central School and graduated from Norwich High School, where he had the lead in the production of The Mikado. His family was very important to him and he looked forward to the annual trip to Myrtle Beach with his children and grandchildren. The family always gathered at his home for Sunday dinner and watching football. He was recently honored for 50 years as a member of the Oxford Fire Department. He retired from the NYS Department of Corrections, Camp Pharsalia as a Sergeant after over 35 years of service. He and his wife operated Judson Creek Antiques for many years. He was well known as a fur and gun dealer. He was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. He formerly owned the Oxford Deli. He was a former member of Lake Ludlow Club and Lost Pond Club. He was a member of the Oxford Rod and Gun Club and the Klipnockie Beagle Club.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 5-8 PM. The Oxford Fire Department will conduct a service at 8 PM at the funeral home.
