ELSIE H. BENNETT
SHERBURNE – Elsie H. Bennett, 81, of Sherburne, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 at UHS/Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.
She was born April 19, 1934 in Sherburne, a daughter of Galen and M. Lois Healy Barnes and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. Elsie married Richard Bennett who predeceased her. Elsie was a short order cook and waitress for various area restaurants, including Scarcella’s Diner in Norwich. Most recently she worked at Unison in Norwich. She enjoyed cooking, baking and playing bingo. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was a kind and generous person who was always willing to transport friends to appointments or wherever they needed to go.
Surviving are her children, Douglas Bennett, Kenneth and Julie Bennett, all of Norwich; Barbara and Michael Mayhood of Oxford; brother and sister-in-law, Willis and Barbara Barnes of Williamsburg, VA; brother-in-law, Ward Dewey of Sherburne; her beloved grandchildren, Robin (John) Bradley of Skaneateles; Loralee (Matthew) Bodo, Hawthorne; Michelle (Derrick) Johnson, Brooklyn Heights; Brian Bennett, FL; Christopher Bennett, Norwich; and Shawn Bennett; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and James Barnes, and a sister, M. Jean Dewey.
There will be a celebration of Elsie’s life at 2pm Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the American Legion Post #876, South Main St., Sherburne.
Interment in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne, will be private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY.
