RICHARD L. CALVERT
SHERBURNE – Richard L. “Buck” Calvert, 62, of Pleasant Valley Rd., passed away Thursday March 26, 2015 at his home.
He was born February 20, 1953 in Hamilton, NY, a son of the late Grover and Anna Giles Calvert and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. On April 28, 1983, Richard married Sandra M. Hicks in Sherburne. Buck had worked for Jack Howard Farms in Sherburne, and then the Chenango County Highway Department for 20 years until his retirement. Following that, he worked for Tony Bays. He enjoyed many activities, including hunting, bowling at Hi-Skor Lanes in Earlville, woodworking and dancing.
He was a member of the Smyrna Rod & Gun Club and the South New Berlin Horseshoe Club.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra; his children, Tammie and Tom Peck of Unadilla; Loretta and Frank Fink of S. Plymouth; Victoria and Richard LaCroce of Sherburne; Rebecca and Steven Pratt of Whitney Point; Kari and Mike Natoli of South Plymouth; and Kasandra Miner of Sherburne; his siblings, Doris Strait of Earlville; Rita and Clarence Head of Smyrna; Linda Young, Pearl Black, Susan and Ken Marvin, all of Norwich; Anna Nelson of Sherburne; Laurie and Tom Absher of Smyrna; Marcia and Greg Young, and Robert Collar, all of NC; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Gene “Chubby” Calvert in 1974; a sister, Marjorie Collar, and his step-father, Robert Collar.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4pm.
