Eunice Golden Scavo


CLINTON, NY – Eunice Golden Scavo, 89, formerly of Norwich and most recently of the Lutheran Care Home in Clinton, NY, passed away on Wednesday morning, March 18, 2015 at the Lutheran Care Home.
Eunice was born in No. Norwich on October 12, 1925 the daughter of Thomas and Charlotte (Fitzgerald) Golden. She obtained her Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts as well as her Masters Degree in Social Work from Marywood College in Scranton, PA. Eunice worked a period of 23 years as a Social Worker for the Bergen County Board of Social Services in Paramus, NJ. She was also a talented artist and exhibited some of her work at one of the many galleries of Marywood College. Following her retirement she returned to the “hills” of the Norwich area where she grew up. She loved taking walks in the country, attending to her wild flower garden and being an active member of the Ladies of Charity of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Norwich. She adored her cats, especially Regina, who is waiting for her at the Rainbow Bridge. Eunice fought a long and hard battle with Alzheimers Disease and was well cared for at the Community Memorial Hospital Extended Care of Hamilton and at the Katherine Luther Rehabilitation Center in Clinton.
Eunice is survived by her daughters, Rita Scavo of Hamilton, Sandra Wiater of NJ and Pamela Booth and husband Thomas of Oregon, her brother James Golden and wife Carol of New Berlin and her grandchildren Jeff Wiater, Scott Watson and Melissa Booth.
Eunice was predeceased by her former husband Dominick Scavo.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Eunice will be held on Tuesday, March 24, at 11 a.m. from St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Ralph A. Bove, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
There will be no public calling hours.
Arrangements are with the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home.
