REGINALD C. SAVORY SR.
GUILFORD – Reginald C. Savory Sr., 79, of Guilford, passed away at his home, after his courageous battle with cancer, Monday, March 16, 2015, with his family and his dog Rocky by his side.
Born May 9, 1935 in Guilford, the son of Walter Savory and Mildred (Hovey) Savory. Reginald was the 5th oldest of nine children, Fred, Doris, Stanley, Donald, Alice, Lena, Sylvia, and Caroline.
Reg joined the Army at age 21 and spent several years serving in the Army Reserves. He then spent the next 30 years working for the NYS DOT, where he retired at age 55. During his career he also served as the President of the local CSEA. Reg also had his own business selling and repairing Simplicity lawn tractors and other small engine equipment.
Reggie was well traveled and loved meeting new people. He was grateful for having the opportunity of traveling abroad to his fathers home of origin in England as well as Egypt, Italy and many other stops during his Mediterranean cruise. He especially enjoyed his trip to Hawaii with his eldest brother Fred and his wife Elsie. He also enjoyed gardening, wood working, and going to local auctions around the area.
Surviving are his children, Fred Savory of Sidney, Regina Welch of Unadilla, and her children Amanda and Stacy, Reginald Savory Jr. of Pompey, and his wife Maureen, and his children Diane and Tony, Corinna Oliver of Norwich, and her husband Dan, and their children, Josh, Jasmin, and Elijah, and 7 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Fred, Stanley, and Donald, and his sister Doris.
At his request there will be no funeral services. Friends and family may share their memories and condolences by visiting his home Saturday, March 21, from 12-4 p.m. He will be laid to rest at a later date at Godfrey Cemetery in Guilford.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Reginald's memory to the American Cancer Society, for cancer research.
