MARIO COCCHETTO
NORWICH – Mario A. (" Marty") Cocchetto, 85, of Norwich, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Chenango Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Born November 13, 1929, in Chicago, IL, Marty was the son of Joseph and Irma (Pasqualin) Cocchetto. On August 9, 1952, in South Kortright, NY, he married the love of his life, Delephine Oblinski. The two of them enjoyed 62 wonderful years together.
Upon moving to Norwich in 1955, Marty and Del owned and operated Hand's Inn and Motel. Marty then worked as a self-employed realtor for many years, and later spent an equal number of years as a mortgage loan officer for Astoria Federal Bank, located in Norwich. In his spare time, Marty loved being with his family and enjoyed gardening and taking brisk morning walks.
In addition to his wife, Marty is survived by daughters Lori Wrench, and her husband, Howard, of VanHornesville, NY, and Margo Truchon, and her husband, Lawrence, of Finksburg, MD. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Margaret Cocchetto, Frances Fullington and Alice Oblinski, along with several nieces and nephews. Marty was predeceased by his brother Herman Cocchetto.
A Memorial Mass for Marty will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015, at St. Bartholomew's Church, and officiated by Rev. Ralph Bove, Pastor. Burial will take place at St. Paul's Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marty's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 217 East Redwood St, 23rd Floor, Baltimore, MD 21201.
