SHERBURNE – Laurentia Cappadonia, 71, of Church St., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009 at M.I. Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.
She was born Sept. 7, 1937 in Sherburme, a daughter of Dennis and Margaret Smith Doyle and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. On Aug. 17, 1957, Laurentia was united in marriage to Joseph Cappadonia. He predeceased her on July 30, 1993. A life long Sherburne resident, Laurentia worked in the Chenango County Treasurer’s Office until her retirement in 2007. Her family was her greatest pleasure and she loved watching her children and grandchildren participate in all their activities.
Mrs. Cappadonia was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer at the Pink Door Thrift Shop in Norwich.
Surviving are her children, Kathy and Joseph Corey of Sherburne; Michael Cappadonia of Sherburne and his fiancée, Mary Lambert; Mark and Tammy Cappadonia of Hamilton; Mary Jo and Scott Burlison of Sherburne; nine grandchildren, Kelly and Joey Corey, Ashley, Abbey, Nikki, and Natalie Cappadonia; Scott, Jr., Maggie and Hannah Burlison; a brother, William “Bill” Doyle of Norwich; and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday from St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne, followed by interment in St. Malachy’s Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 1:45 p.m.
