Alan L. Golden

ALAN L. GOLDEN
NORWICH – Alan L. Golden, 66, of Norwich, NY passed away on Monday February 23, 2015 at his home.
Alan was born on March 23, 1948 in Norwich to the late Sherwood and Floretta Burdick Golden. A Norwich resident for the majority of his life, Alan served his country from 1968 to 1969. In 1983 he started his life-long career with the New York State Department of Corrections, wherein he worked until his retirement in 2001, his last stint of which was in Camp Georgetown. To best describe Alan one could say he was a typical Golden with a great sense of humor. He loved doing things with his family like none other especially his grandchildren. Alan loved visiting with almost anybody, but those visits always had to be scheduled around his coffee time with friends. He found his passion in the outdoors, as an avid outdoorsman Alan spent much time hunting and fishing and loved spending time at his lake house at Bradley Brook.
Alan is survived by his wife of 35 years Shirley Golden, his daughters; Melissa Kreiner of Earlville, Hope (Shawn) Lambrecht of Oneonta, Rustina (Jody) Ruf of Gloversville, and Alana Golden of Norwich and his faithful dog Nitro. He is also survived by his grandchildren Morgan Kreiner, Chase Kreiner, Katrina Skinner, Trey Lambrecht, Skye Lambrecht, Ariel Ruf, Jody Ruf Jr., Cory Miller, and Alex Helpling, his brothers Sonny (Jessie) Golden and Donnie (Dawn) Golden, and his brother and sister in-laws Bob and Mary Barnes of Ithaca, Linn Monday of Norwich, and Tom and Annette Monday also of Norwich.
Alan is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Edward, William, and Frank, his Sister-In_Laws Velma Diamond and Patricia Monday and his dog Rocky.
A funeral Service for Alan will be held on Thursday February 26, 2015 at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, Norwich NY at 2pm with Rev David Spiegel pastor of the First Baptist Church of Norwich officiating. Friends may come to call from 12 pm noon until the time of the services.
