ROBERT L. DAVIS
SHERBURNE – Robert L. “Omar” Davis, 70, of Classic St., passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.
He was born August 9, 1944 in Manhattan, a son of Coleridge and Louise Bell Reid. Omar married Susan E. Bruno on December 3, 1998 in Sherburne. He had previously been married to Patsy Rogers. Omar was a chef at various area restaurants, most recently at Denny’s in Binghamton. He was dedicated to helping and counseling troubled youths through his “bad boys club”. He and Susan also reached out to the needy by providing them with food during the holidays.
He was a member of the Crossroads Church in Sherburne.
Surviving are his wife, Susan; his mother, Louise Reid of NYC; his mother-in-law, Eva Neal of Sherburne, whom he adored; his children, Robert (Gloria) Davis, Jr. of CT; Adrian (Gwen) Davis of NJ; Bridget (Roger) Jones of MD; Todd Davis, Shane Palmer (Kristi Miller), Shannon Palmer (A.J. VanSteinburg), Steven (Brittney) Palmer, Jr., all of Sherburne; sisters, Rita Head of NJ; Hazel Head, Dolores Head and Anita Reid, all of NYC; brothers, Earl Reid and Coleridge Reid, of NYC; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Gloria, Shawn and Deborah.
Funeral services will be held at 6pm Friday, February 27, 2015 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment is private at the convenience of his family.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-6pm prior to the service.
