DOMINICK PHILIPPONE
GREENE – Dominick Philippone, Jr., 81 of Greene, formerly of Norwich passed away on February 13, 2015 at the NYS Veterans Home, Oxford. He was born on August 24, 1933 in Port Washington, NY a son of the late Dominick and Concetta (Galizza) Philippone, Sr. On December 3, 1955 in Manorhaven, NY he married Beverly Bartlett, who survives.
Besides his wife Beverly, he is survived by his children; Donna and David Jensen of South Otselic, Teresa and Hugh Witchella of Oxford, Mark and Rebecca Philippone of Greene, Susan Philippone of Norwich, and Patrick Philippone of Norwich; his grandchildren, Christopher, Erin, Justin, Hugh, Haley, Marie-France, Alexandra, Christianne, Dominick, Vincent, Emilie, and Liam. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph; sisters, Rose and Vera and his granddaughter, Allison.
He served in the US Air Force from 1951-1955 and was a member of Fort Hill Post #376, American Legion. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Norwich. He had worked at Victory Markets in Norwich for over 30 years. He enjoyed watching his children and grand children play sports. He loved bowling and golfing. The family would like to extend a special thank you for the excellent care that Dominick received from the staff of Pine Cottage at the NYS Veterans Home.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, NY on Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 2-4 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at a later date, prior to burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Oxford.
Military honors will be provided by members of Fort Hill Post #376, American Legion at that time.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
