BERNICE M. WHALEY
SMYRNA – Bernice M. Whaley, 85, of German Hollow Road, Smyrna, NY, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 28, 2015.
Bernice was born June 23, 1929, the daughter of Charles H. and Marian Aline (White) Wilkes. On September29, 1945 in Norwich she married Allie Whaley who passed away October 9, 2006.
A hard worker all of her life, Bernice lived on their farm where she raised her family. She had been secretary of the Chenango Valley Pony Club.
Bernice is survived by her children, Donna Livingston of Norwich, Dianna DeLee also of Norwich, David Whaley and wife Deb of Smyrna, Steven Whaley and wife Laurie of Statesville, NC, Larry Whaley of Sherburne, Betsy Barry of Smyrna, Jeffrey Whaley and wife Ceta of No. Pharsalia, Martin Whaley and wife Theresa of WA, Lisa Wills and husband Gus of Guilford,Patsy Parsons and husband Kevin, Jack Whaley and wife Sherry of Norwich and Jody Whaley and wife Margo of Smyrna. Also surviving are 2 brother-in-laws Robert Collier and Grant Whaley and wife Berneta, 4 sister-in-laws Leila Brooks, Ruby Bassett, Marie Whaley and Karolyn Whaley along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, Bernice was predeceased by her son Rory Whaley, son-in-laws Lansing DeLee, Gary Eddy and Brent Barry, her sisters Eleanor Collier, Marion Smith, brother Richard Wilkes and 4 grandchildren Kevin Livingston, D.Jay Whaley, Dodie Whaley and Spencer Whaley.
At Bernices request, graveside services will be held in the spring from the Willcox Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are with the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home.
