ALLEN C. MOORE
Oxford—Allen C. Moore, 83, passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 at Norwich Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with cancer and alzheimers.
Allen was born in Oxford on Jan. 30, 1931 to Carl and Ethel Moore. In 1952 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in1954. Allen then worked at GLA. From there Allen went on to learn carpentry and masonry from Bernard Tracy. He then started his own business – Moore and Sons.
Allen lived each day to the fullest, as if each day were his last.
Allen is survived by his daughters, Rita Rapp-Jeff Lanfair and Rosetina and Allan Kenyon, and son Randy and Laura Moore. Several grandchildren, Ronnie and Heather Rapp, Renee Rapp, Mickie Davis-Elmer Morriss, Wesley and Gretchen Kenyon, Nicole Gallager-Cody Norris, Danielle Moore-Craig Decker, Aubrey Jones-Randy Kirkland, Monique Moore and Hannah Moore.
He had six great grandchildren, Trenton and Kloden Rapp, Dalton and Aiden Davis, Sebastian and Kaleb Kenyon, Jacob Gallager and Landon Norris. Brothers, Dick and Marilyn Moore, Doug and Julie Moore, and Harry and Marie Moore. Sisters, Hazel Knapp, and Carletta and Stewart Russell. He had several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Ethel Moore, his son, Rex Moore, sisters, Doris Thoms and Mary Faborito, brothers-in-law Mike Thoms, Thomas Faborito, and Jim Knapp.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring for Allen. He donated his body to science in hope of finding a cure for other people. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Wounded Warriors.
