Justin Wood

JUSTIN WOOD
NORWICH – Justin Wood, 31 of Norwich, passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City.
Justin was born on April 3, 1983, the son of Connie (Carpenter) Barnes and Chris Wood at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. He was a graduate of Unadilla Valley School.
Justin was a devoted father. If you knew Justin, you understood that Killian was his entire world, he was happiest when he was spending time with his son. Justin just had a big heart; he shared a very special bond with Killian’s older brother Julian, and considered him his own son.
It is no surprise that Justin had a lot of friends; he had a special way of making those around him laugh and smile. Justin loved telling a story, his face would light up with animation as he described every detail…“ya know”? Justin followed sports and was a dedicated Mets fan. Justin was also mechanically inclined and his friends would often joke that he was “MacGyver”. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by those who had the privilege to know and love him.
Justin is survived by his sons, Killian Wood and Julian Gonzalez of Norwich; mother and step-father, Connie and Gary Barnes of Norwich; father, Chris Wood of Norwich; brothers, Donnie Wood and husband Thomas Dickey of Dubuque, IA, John Wood of Norwich; sister, Megan Barnes and significant other Chad Montgomery of Morris; step-brother Matt Barnes of Williamsburg, VA; step-sister, Ashley Kenyon and husband Greg of Marathon; grandparents, Walt and Marie Wood of Norwich, Chub (a.k.a. Carmen) Mills of Holmesville; Aunts and Uncles, Craig and Birgit Wood of East Wallingford, VT, Steve and Donna Wood- Craig of Norwich, Mark and Margaret Wood of Columbus, OH and Chris and Alyson Handy of Rochester and many close friends.
Justin was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Donald and Regina Carpenter.
A memorial service for Justin will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 7pm at the South New Berlin Fire Department. Rev. Robert Decker, will officiate. Friends and family are invited to join together to share memories and celebrate Justin’s life from 5pm until the time of service Tuesday.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
