THERESA (MONTESANTI) ALESSI
NEW HARTFORD – Mrs. Theresa (Montesanti) Alessi, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2014, at the Magnolia House of the Charles T. Sitrin HCC.
Theresa was born in Utica on September 18, 1921, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Bonanza) Montesanti. She was educated in local schools and a 1939 graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On October 28, 1950, at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Theresa was joined in marriage to Anthony Alessi of Norwich. The couple shared a very loving marriage of over fifty-five years living in Norwich throughout their marriage. Anthony passed away on March 13, 2005.
Before her marriage, Theresa worked at S.S. Kresge in Utica for ten years; while living in Norwich, she was employed at the Victory Markets for over thirty-four years. She was a longtime volunteer at Chenango Memorial Hospital, the American Cancer Society, the Red Cross Office, Valley View Manor Nursing Home, and Perry Browne School in Norwich. She was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church, its Rosary Society and Ladies of Charity; she was also a member of the Mt. Carmel Society at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel in Utica.
A loving and kind woman with a wonderful smile, Theresa leaves her beloved brother, Philip Montesanti; and her many beloved first cousins, Nicholas and Joan LaBella, Dominick and Kathleen Timpano, Marie Bifano, Edward and Marie Cichello, Elaine and Michael Elefante, Carmelita Syrotynski, Carrie Bonanza, Jean and George Albright, and Ronald Bonanza; also many beloved second and third generation cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on Friday at 12 Noon at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, 648 Jay St., in Utica, NY. The family will receive visitors prior to mass from 11 a.m. until Noon. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum.
The family would like to offer their gratitude to the staff of the Magnolia House for their loving care of Theresa during her stay there. Arrangements are with The Matt Funeral Home of Utica.
