ROBERT (BUTCH) CRANDALL
NORWICH – Robert (Butch) Crandall, 70, of Norwich, passed away Wednesday morning, December 10, 2014 at his home with family by his side.
Butch was born on June 19, 1944 in Rome, NY the son of Leon and Ethel LaQuay Crandall. He lived with his family for a brief period of time in Utica before moving to Norwich where he attended the Norwich schools. Butch has been employed by Lancaster Developement for over 40 years as a heavy equipment operator. Highly respected within the company for his abilities Butch has been involved with many road and bridge construction projects. He retired from Lancaster in 2006.
Butch was a family oriented man who loved the beach and spent many good times in Daytona Beach. Always a gentleman, Butch was a friendly, pleasant guy and was a hard worker all of his life. He enjoyed car shows, motocross and could often be found attending these events. Butch will be best remembered for his “Big Red Truck” a 1967 Ford which he truly enjoyed.
On June 7, 1985 in Norwich he married Deborah Hubbard who survives. Besides his wife Deborah of Norwich, Butch his survived by his children Pamela Nelson and husband Micah of Smyrna, Susan Bigford and husband Herb of Sherburne, Paisley Crandall of Vernon, Brent Potter of Poughkeepsie, his sister Sharon Crandall of Preston, step-sister Emily Testa of Utica and his brothers Edwin (Cork) Crandall and wife Claudine of TN, Richard Crandall of TN and William (Buster) Crandall and wife Donna of Norwich. Also surviving are his grandchildren Brock Hoag, Austin Crandall, Dylan Angle, Tyler Bigford, Drew Nelson and Lauren Dolan Potter, his sister-in-law Nancy Crandall of Whitney Point, his best friend Eddie Baxter along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Butch was predecesed by his sister and brother-in-law Beverly and Larry Stone, his brothers Harold (Mike) Crandall, Daniel Crandall and sister-in-law Dorothy Crandall.
At Butch’s request there will be no funeral services or calling hours.
