George W. Ryan


OXFORD – George W. Ryan, II, 57 of Oxford passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at his home. He was born on August 9, 1957 in Oxford a son of the late George and Luana (Crawford) Ryan. On June 18, 1987 he married Lynn L. Oliver, who survives.
Besides his wife, Lynn, he is survived by his brothers, John and Yolanda Ryan of Sumerville, AL, Elmer and Eve Ryan of Baldwinsville, and Michael Gray of Sherburne; his sisters, Marianne Ryan-Jones of San Diego, CA, Jennie Ryan of Norwich, Dawn and Anthony Neri of Scranton, Tracy and Chris Rotundo of Norwich; his step-mother, Betty Ryan of Binghamton; his brothers in law and sisters in law, Tracy and Christine Oliver, Curtis and Rose Oliver, and Pat Stephenson; and his aunt and uncle, Karen and Wes Searle. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by his uncle, Jeremiah Ryan; his mother and father in law, Harold and Lenora Oliver and his special family, Gordon and Norma Smith.
He graduated from American Preparatory Institute in 1977. He served in the US Army Military Police, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He and Lynn enjoyed assisting raise many children in their home. He was a Corrections Officer for the Chenango County Sheriff’s Department. He loved hunting, fishing, farming and held a lifetime Sportsman’s license. He liked cutting fire wood. A friend to everyone, he would do anything for anyone.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Members of Fort Hill Post, American Legion with conduct a service at 7:00 PM on Friday.
