Millie Viola Brazee French


NORWICH – Millie Viola Brazee French, 86, of Norwich, passed away Monday morning, December 8, 2014, with her family by her side at the Norwich Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.
Millie was born in Kirk on August 31, 1928 the daughter of Jesse James and Waneta (Wilson) Brazee. She grew up in the Kirk area where she attended the local school. Millie left school early to help her parents raise their large family. Over the years she worked for Berglas Co. and the Norwich Shoe Co. from which she retired. In addition to working at the Shoe Co. Millie and her husband Harold together operated a small farm in Preston.
Millie was a pleasant person who in her earlier years enjoyed dancing. She also liked gardening at her home and watching the birds. On June 23, 1947 she married her husband of 53 years Harold Stanley French who passed away June 11, 2000.
Millie is survived by her children Richard French and wife Gail of Oxford, Waneta Kossman and husband Bob of South Plymouth and Harold French Jr. and wife Diane of Sherburne, her grandchildren Daphne Kossman Dodge and companion Anthony Buell, Richard French Jr. and wife Lori, Francis French and wife Amy, Bruce French and wife Ursula, Dawn French Teft and fiancee Larry Head, Jesse French and wife Andrea, Erik Lindgren, Heather Lindgren and Larry Snyder and wife Cristen. Also surviving are numerous great grandchildren, her sisters Darlene Manwarren and husband Ted of Smyrna, Joyce Donnelly and husband Roland of Smyrna, her brother David Brazee of Hubbardsville along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband Harold, Millie was predeceased by her sisters Barbara Law, Arlene Dunn, Charlotte Waller, Evelyn Mock and Beatrice Usher, her brothers Francis Brazee, Charles Brazee, Frank Brazee, Daniel Brazee and Jesse Brazee, her grandson Robert (BJ) Kossman Jr. and last but not least her cannine friend “Lady”.
A funeral service for Millie will be held on Friday, December 12 at 1:00 pm from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Earlville will officiate. Interment will be in the North Norwich Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 11:00 am until the time of the servie at 1:00 pm.
