Everett D. (don) Hodge


EVERETT D. HODGE
OXFORD – Everett D. (Don) Hodge, 77, a life long and well known resident of Oxford, passed away Friday morning, October 24, 2014, in the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Norwich.
Don was born in Oxford on December 3, 1936 the son of Grant and Louise (Spicer) Hodge. He spent his entire life in Oxford where he grew up on the family farm, Oxpres Farms, which he operated in all of his adult life with his brother Jim. Don’s family always came first and was very important to him. He was always community minded and wanted the best for the area he called home. Don was a past member of the Chenango County Holstein Club, a past member of the Oxford School Board of Education, a past member of the Oxford Town Board, a past member of the Chenango County Fair Board, a past member of the Chenango County Cooperative Extension and a current member of the Oxford Industrial Developement Corp. OIDC.
On October 16, 1954 he married Barbara Ingraham who passed away October 17, 2014.
Don is survived by his children, Dawn Schermerhorn and husband Keith of Walton, Kathleen Hodge of Oxford, his daughter in law Ann (Pickie) Hodge of Oxford, his grandchildren, Alissa Cronin, Kevin Cronin, Kaitlin Cronin, Lee and Jennifer Hodge, Nathan Hodge and Jesse and Catherine Hodge. Also surviving are his great grandchildren Morgan, Adrienne, Taylor, Lilly, Preston, Cora and Grace, along with his sister in law Barbara Hodge of Oxford and nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife Barbara, Don was predeceased by his son Terry Hodge and his brother James Hodge.
A funeral service for Don will be held on Tuesday, October 28, at 4:00 pm from the United Church of Oxford. The Rev. Allen C. Lang, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery of Oxford. Friends may call at the United Church of Oxford on Tuesday from 2-4 pm.
