DOROTHY J. LEWICKI
SHERBURNE – Dorothy J. Lewicki, 82, of Howard Rd., passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 at her home.
She was born December 21, 1931 in Norwich, a daughter of Leroy and Grace Doing Meade and received her education in Norwich schools. On September 2, 1950, Dorothy married Henry Lewicki in Norwich. He predeceased her on June 9, 1993. Dorothy had worked at the Utica Knitting Mill in Sherburne, and later for the Sherburne-Earlville Central School in the cafeteria and then as a custodian until her retirement in 1993. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. She enjoyed many hobbies, including embroidery, painting and playing cards. She and Henry always loved to travel together. Dorothy also enjoyed taking bus trips with her senior citizens groups, especially to Atlantic City.
Dorothy was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne. She was a member of the Sherburne and Hamilton Senior Citizen groups.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Marybeth Lewicki and her companion, Bill Valentin of Staten Island; Julie and Pete Asma of Norwich; Kathy Coye of Sherburne; Deanna and Daryl Marshall of Wampsville; a son, Marty Lewicki and his fiancée, Shelly Arnold of Sherburne; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ronald Brown of Norwich; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Meade.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from St. Malachy’s Church, East State St., Sherburne, followed by interment in St. Malachy’s Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne from 5-7pm on Tuesday. The rosary will be recited at 4:45pm.
