CLARENCE R. KNAPP
SHERBURNE – Clarence R. “Clem” Knapp, 72, of Sherburne, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 20, 2014, surrounded by his family. Clarence was born on June 27, 1942 the son of Frank and Leona Marvin Knapp. After his time in school Clem went to work at the Norwich Shoe Factory, then went to work for the Victory Markets, until he found his life-long career at Proctor and Gamble, where he worked for over 40 years.
Clarence was an outdoorsman at heart. When he wasn’t spending time with his family he could be seen watching his son Duane and grandson Allan as they raced, or out enjoying nature as he was hunting or fishing.
Clarence is survived by his wife Mary Dunham Knapp, his children; Vicki (Mark) Leigh of Norwich, Sheryl (Mike) Hodge of Sherburne, Duane (Nicole) Knapp of Smyrna, his step-children Frank (Lynn) Dunham of Plymouth, Bonita Scott of Hamilton, James Dunham of Hamilton, and Chad (Heather) Dunham of Norwich. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters Robert Knapp of Sherburne, Betty Tamburro of Sidney, Frances Ohl of Oxford, Jean Mayne of North Norwich, as well as 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his faithful dog Rex.
Clarence was predeceased by his parents, his brother Jim Knapp, and his sisters Dorothy Knapp and Mina Knapp.
A funeral service for Clarence will be held on Friday, October 24, at Noon from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Ron Swade, Pastor of the Canasawacta Valley Free Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Norwich.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon.
