DOUGLAS G. KENYON SR
SMITHVILLE FLATS – Douglas G. Kenyon Sr., age 72, of Smithville Flats, died on October 15, 2014 at his home.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Shirley J. Kenyon of 43 years; parents Vernon and Lottie Kenyon. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Shapley "Sam" and Ash Steele, grandsons, Devin, his wife Andrea, and Cody "Coyote" Shapley. Son, Douglas Kenyon Jr. "Zeke" and wife Judi, granddaughter Jessica Kenyon and Angelo Mendolia and grandson Douglas J. Kenyon. Son, William Kenyon "Bill" and wife Dianna, grandsons, Blaine and Mitchell Kenyon, granddaughter Ashley Kenyon. Son, James Kenyon "Jim" and wife Michelle, grandsons Brandon and Michael Kenyon. Brothers, Doane and Donald. Sisters, Kay, Karen and Darlene. Great granddaughters, Louise, Caroline, and Josephine Mendolia; and many other nieces and nephews and true friends.
Doug/Dad/Grandpa enjoyed his life to the fullest. He was a good father and grandfather to all of his children and grandchildren. He had a love for the outdoors and spent as much time as much time as possible keeping his lawn mowed to perfection, riding his Harley, UTV, Model A, or driving a horse buggy. If there ever was a true fighter Doug was ranked at the top, he fought through many illnesses and would not give up. He fought an honorable fight.
Doug will be missed dearly by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 3:30 PM at the Berean Bible Church, Greene. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 5-8 PM at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St., Greene.
