CINCINNATUS – Eleanor E. "Ellie" Franklin, 62; most recently of Cincinnatus, went to be with her Lord on Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Norwich in September of 1946, Ellie lived with James and Bernice Ayer, who raised her as their own. She was a 1965 graduate of the Norwich High School and, in the 1970s, worked as a nurse’s aide at Valley View Manor Nursing Home. For a time, she made her home in Preston with her daughter, Allison, and for the past 9-10 years had resided at Rosewood Adult Care Home in Cincinnatus. A very kind hearted and giving woman who liked to talk and to discuss the Bible. Elite enjoyed sewing and, during her years in Rosewood, had acted as activities director.
On March 5, 1976, Ellie married Charles Franklin. She is survived by her husband, Charles, of Binghamton; by her children: Mary Tuttle of Norwich, Charles Munyan of Utica, and Allison Armlin and husband Charles of Norwich; and by her grandchildren: Deanna and Samantha Reigles, Jolene Armlin, and Scott and Tara Tuttle, all of Norwich; and by her great grandson, Maljek Sturdevant of Norwich. Ellie was predeceased by her great granddaughter, Maddison Sturdevant.
Funeral services for Ellie will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph Hinman, pastor of the Bible Baptist Church of Norwich, will officiate. Interment will be in the Franklin Cemetery of Preston. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 9 a.m. until the service at 10.
