NILDA DORIS (DORY) DVORACEK
GILBERTSVILLE – Nilda Doris (Dory) Dvoracek, 72, of Gilbertsville, joined her soul mate on Sunday, October 12, 2014 with her family by her side. She was born in New York City, the daughter of Orlando Ferreyra and Emma Margaret (Hernandez) Ferreyra. After finding her calling to be a registered nurse, she spent three years in the Navy as a medic and settled down with her soul mate in Astoria, Queens then relocated to Gilbertsville with her family in 1973. She spent her 45 year career at Astoria General, Chenango Memorial and A.O. Fox Hospitals. Dory was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She had a passion for traveling and lived life to the fullest each and every day. Dory was always available and ready to lend her ear and her heart to anyone in need. Her motto was “keep dancing because you never know when your music will stop.”
She is survived by her 2 children Donna and James Dvoracek, 2 grandchildren Danielle and Kayla Zinn, 3 brothers Orlando (Frank) Ferreyra and wife Karen, Joseph (Joe) Ferreyra and wife Johanna, Gerald (Jerry) Ferreyra and wife Maria, a sister Emma (Margie) Ferreyra and countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Joseph (Joe) Dvoracek.
Calling hours will be on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris from 1 to 3:00 pm and 7 to 9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday October 18 at 11:00 am at the Christ Church in Gilbertsville with Deacon Donna Steckline officiating.
