RICKMANN “RICK” G. BORCHARDT
ONEIDA – Rickmann “Rick” G. Borchardt, 73, of 433 Broad Street, Oneida, died Wednesday morning October 1, 2014, in University Hospital, Syracuse, where he had been a medical patient since September 18th.
Rick was born on October 16, 1940, in Sherburne, the son of Gustave F. and Alice Snyder Borchardt. He was a graduate of Sherburne High School and Morrisville Ag and Tech College.
He married Joanne P. Meyers on May 12, 1962, in Norwich.
Rick was employed as a supervisor with Unison Industries in Norwich for 22 years, retiring in May 2003. Following retirement, he was employed part time with Ferris Industries in Munnsville.
He was an avid DIRT racing fan.
Surviving besides his loving wife, Joanne; are a devoted daughter, Patricia (Neil) Chapman, of W. Bloomfield, NY, three sons and daughter-in-laws; Michael (Susan) Borchardt, of Oneida, John (Connie) Borchardt, of Liverpool and James “Rick” (Teresa) Borchardt, of Binghamton, six grandchildren; Matthew, Nathan, Trevor, Connor, Jalen and Kacey, a great-granddaughter, Khloe, four sisters; Alta (John) Collins, of Sherburne, Dorothy Cunningham, of Ohio, Dawn Davis, of Norwich, and Carol (Eldaige) St. Peter of Sherburne, one brother; Ken Ellis, of Clark Mills, several nieces and nephews and special companions Eddie and Gracie.
He was pre-deceased by his parents; one sister, Beverly Ellis; one brother, Clifford Borchardt; and brothers-in-law, John Cunningham and Rodney Davis.
Rick’s family wishes to express their gratitude to the Doctors and Staff at University Hospital for the kindness and compassion shown to him, especially Dr Gajra, NP Ibrahim and the staff of 10e and ROC. They also wish to thank his friends at Ferris Industries for all of their support as well as Rev. Stuart C. Wattles from the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday October 18 2014 at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc. with the Rev. Stewart C. Wattles officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home 342 Main St., Oneida.
