MARIE V. MOORE
HAMILTON – Marie V. Moore, 66, of Hamilton, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Hospital in Utica.
She was born on May 7, 1948 in Richfield Springs, the daughter of Linnie Marie Davenport.
Marie worked at several nursing homes in the Norwich area for many years. Being the kind and caring person that she was, she was a nurse at home as well. She would take care of the children when they were sick and also took care of injuries. Marie also took in a troubled young girl, Virginia Randall, and taught her how to walk and talk and how to care for herself.
She really loved the simple things in life. Marie was very proud of her flower garden and was also very good cook, something she passed onto her daughter and brother. Marie adored the time she spent with her companion, Jim. They enjoying going out to eat and shopping together, and both loved to travel, something that she had never done before meeting Jim, most recently visiting family in Florida. Marie was also a huge animal lover, especially her two cats.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Clara R. Moore of Bainbridge; her brother, Larry F. Snyder, and his fiancée Virginia Randall, of Norwich; her long-time companion, James MacBain, of Hamilton, and her mother, Linnie Marie Davenport.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Marie was predeceased by her granddaughter, Faith Wright; her nephew, Ernest Leo Snyder, and her niece, Michelle Iris Snyder.
Family and friends may call from 11am to Noon on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta, at which time her family will receive guests.
A funeral service will be held at Noon following the calling hours, with the Rev. Richard Dunn, Pastor of St. Mary’s Church in Hamilton, officiating. Interment will be in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, following the service at the funeral home.
