RICHARD L. “DICK” DALE
SHERBURNE – Richard L. “Dick” Dale, 79, of Tracy Rd., passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014 at his home.
He was born July 15, 1935 in Georgetown, a son of Lora and Gladys Riley Dale and was a graduate of Georgetown High School. On September 7, 1953, Dick married Patricia Adsit in Sherburne. He was a dairy farmer for 40 years, and later a postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Hubbardsville, Earlville and Georgetown. Dick had a wonderful singing voice that was heard at many weddings over the years. He was truly fond of all animals.
He was a member of the West Smyrna Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, music director and youth director. He was a member of the Agway Board in Georgetown, the South New Berlin Co-op, and the Soil Conservation Board.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia; his children, Michael Dale of Sherburne; Lori and Greg Levengood of Tully; grandchildren, Nathaniel and Sareen Dale of South Bend, IN; Justin and Mary Dale of Nappanee, IN; Jason Levengood and Alyssa Levengood, both of Tully; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Madison Dale of Nappanee, IN; daughters-in-law, Cheryl Dale of Nappanee, IN and Grace Dale of Morrisville; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Mark and Dwight Dale; a sister, Virginia Bumpus; and three brothers, Jack, Creighton and Alan Dale.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by interment in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 p.m.
