EARLVILLE – Frederick G. “Fred” Corey, 76, of North Main St., passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.
He was born April 3, 1938 in Rutland VT, a son of George and Dorothy Wood Corey. He was a graduate of local schools and attended college in Vermont. On September 14, 1963, Fred married Margaret Trafton in Brattleboro, VT. Fred was an entrepreneur who owned and operated several businesses including Corey’s Hardware, Corey’s Real Estate, and Mid York Appraisal. He was also a dairy farmer for several years and enjoyed golfing.
Fred was a member and past president of the Board of Realtors and a member and past president of the Hamilton Rotary Club.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Margaret; daughter and son-in-law, Heather Corey-Mongue and Jeffrey Mongue of Glenmont, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Alexander and Zelia Corey of Bethlehem, PA; brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Sally Corey of Fairhaven, VT; grandchildren, Bella Mongue and Dewey Mongue, both of Glenmont, NY; and Sienna Corey of Bethleham, PA. He is also survived by his beloved canine companions, Buddy and Sam. Fred was predeceased by a brother, Charles Corey.
In keeping with his wishes, there are no services or calling hours.
