RICHARD MOORE
NORWICH – Richard Henry Moore, 84, formerly of Norwich and most recently of No. Wilkesboro, NC passed away on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, in the Wilkes Regional Medical Center of No. Wilkesboro, NC.
Richard was born in Norwich on Oct. 19, 1929 the son of Gerald and Vena (Crance) Moore. He grew up in Norwich and was a 1948 graduate of the Norwich High School. Following his education he entered the United States Air Force serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1954. He served in Germany and Korea where he flew supplies to the wounded and earned the rank of Staff Sgt.
Richard had worked for over 20 years for the Norwich Pharmacal Co. retirng in 1991. He was a former member of VFW Post 2782 of Norwich and American Legion Post 189. While his children were growing up he was very involved in the football parents program and the booster club. He was also an avid golfer at Riverbend Golf Clug and bowled with the Friday night mixed league. Richard also served as an officer of International Union #251 and had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Norwich for over 50 years where he served as a trustee as well as on the Board of Deacons.
Richard is survived by his children; Gary Moore and wife Kimberly of Millers Creek, NC, Tim Moore and wife Shelley of Mt. Juliet, TN and Bryan Moore and wife Kate of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving are his grandchildren Keith Moore, Todd Moore, Jennifer Noggle and husband James, Chad Moore and wife Lindsay, Alison Keene and husband Richard, Kristie Moore, Erin Schrijvers and husband Gregg and Megan Moore along with 8 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Richard was predeceased by his sister Shirley Barton.
Graveside services for Richard will be held at the Mt. Hope Cemetery at a time and date to be announced in the future.
Arrangements are with the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home.
