Anna Sienkiewicz


NORWICH – Anna Sienkiewicz, 97, a resident of Norwich until the fall of 2013 and most recently of Franklin, Mass, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, in the Franklin Health & Rehab Center in Franklin.
Anna was born in Newark, NJ on Dec. 29, 1916 the daughter of Peter and Anna Radziewicz. As a young child she moved to Lithuania with her parents and she returned to the United States at the age of 15 where she settled in Newark, NJ. She eventually gained employment with Seton Hall College in their dietary dept. until her rmarriage to Joseph Sienkiewicz on Jan 28, 1940. Anna and her husband remained in the area and in 1951 moved to Gilbertsville where they owned and operated a dairy farm. In 1971 Anna and her husband moved to Norwich where she gained employment with Chenango Memorial Hospital . She worked with the hospital in the dietary dept. until her retirement over 30 years ago.
Anna was a devoted and faithful member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies of Charity and the Altar and Rosary Society.
Anna is survived by her children Joanna Wagner and husband Jim of Franklin, Mass., Richard Sienkiewicz and wife Katherine of Springfield, VA and Charles Sienkiewicz and wife Judy of Taylors, SC. Also surviving are her grandchildren Rick Sienkiewicz and wife Nan, Caroline Clements and husband Noah, Ryan Wagner, Joseph Sienkiewicz, Stephanie Mackey and husband Jeff, Kate Donn and husband Andrew, Donavon Rockwell and husband Tom and Scott Wagner and wife Ellen along with 7 great grandchildren.
Anna was predeceased by her husband Joseph on Oct. 1, 1986 and her brothers John, Julius, Vincent, Peter and Adolf.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Anna will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 10:00 am at St.Paul’s Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Ralph A. Bove, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Following the interment there will be a celebration of Anna’s life at the Canasawacta Country Club. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Anna’s memory to either St. Paul’s Church, 30 Pleasant St., Norwich, NY 13815 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
