Linda L. Smith


NORWICH – Linda Lee Smith, 63, of Norwich, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at the Valley View Manor Nursing Home after a long battle with Prion Disease.
Linda was born in Norwich on Feb. 27, 1951 the daughter of William M. and Rosemary (Sheam) Lee. She grew up in Norwich, was a 1969 graduate of the Norwich High School. In 1999 Linda decided to further her education by earning her Bachelor’s Degree in business. Linda spent 20 years in Florida with her brother Billy and returned to Norwich in 1989. She was employed as a senior case worker for Chenango County Dept. of Social Services for 15 years.
Linda was a fun loving individual who enjoyed people and loved a good time. On Sept. 23, 2000 in Norwich she married James (Smitty) Smith who survives.
Besides her husband Smitty of Norwich, Linda is survived by her children Heather Angelino and Sara Watts bothof Syracuse, Nicholas Buccelli of Erie, PA, her step-children Andrew Smith of Norwich, Amy Korver and husband Eric of New Berlin, her sisters, Margo Creagh and husband Robert of Memphis, TN, Mary Jenkins of Elmira, and her brother Patrick Lee and wife Donna of Norwich. Also surviving are her grandchildren Michaela Watts, Hannah Watts, Fynn Munro, Thomas Ackerman, Sam Ackerman, Charlie Smith, Charlie White and Jack White. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Besides her parents William and Rosemary, Linda was predeceased by her brother Billy Lee.
A Celebration of Life for Linda will be held on Sunday, Sept. 14, at Taylor’s Country House from 2-6 p.m. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are with the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home.
