Peggy Sue (beckwith) Serrano


CLINTON, MASS – Peggy Sue (Beckwith) Serrano, 55, of Clinton, Mass., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester following a brief illness. She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Gadiel Serrano, her father Perle D. Beckwith of Norwich, siblings Brad Beckwith and wife Donna of Groton, CT, Leslie Beckwith and wife Loretta and Vicky Mullenax all of Norwich. She leaves her mother and father-in-law, Clementina and Santana Serrano and brothers-in-law Rolando and Osvaldo Serrano all of Panama, nieces and nephews Michael and Kaylee Beckwith, James Corey and Matthew Mullenax, several aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. She was predeceased by her mother Alice (Bates) Beckwith.
Peggy was born in Norwich and was a graduate of the New Berlin High School Class of 1976. Upon relocating to Clinton, she was employed with several area businesses including the Ames Dept. Store, Amory Plastics Company and later Clinton Item Newspaper. Peggy devoted herself to her community as a staunch supporter of the local athletics. She kept statistics for the Clinton Irish Blizzard and was a fixture in the bleachers for countless sporting events. She was a proud and fierce New York Yankee fan, who also cheered for the Patriots, Bruins and Celtics. Peggy was adored by children and adults alike and she will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who had the pleasure to have known her.
A graveside service for Peggy will be held on Sat., Aug. 16, at 10 a.m. from the North Norwich Cemetery. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Earlville will officiate.
