MT. UPTON – Vance Terry Brazee, 65, of Mt. Upton, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 26, 2014, in the Bassett Medical Center of Cooperstown.
Vance was born on March 30, 1949 in Norwich the son of Howard and Margaret (Bush) Brazee. He attended school in South Otselic and had made his home for a period time in the South Otselic and Beaver Meadow areas.
Vance was known as the “traveling man” having lived and traveled in most of the 50 states. He enjoyed playing the guitar and being on the move. He has made his home in the area for the past 2 years. Over the years he worked as a logger, a stone worker and farm hand as well as any odd jobs he could find.
Vance is survived by his children Yvonne Gore of Binghamton, Vance Lester and fiancee Connie Davis of Norwich, Vincent Brazee and companion Donna Bates of Bainbridge, Anna Manwarren and companion Jeff (Yogi) Maxson of Mt. Upton, Volanda Brazee and companion Eric Decker of Bainbridge, Dawn Griffin of Norwich and Valarie Kennedy and husband Mike of Norwich, his wife Teena Brazee of Norwich, his sisters Billie Parker of Norwich, Margie Schoener and husband Jay of Mt. Upton, Joan Leech of Norwich, Agnes Manwarren of Norwich and his brothers Howard Brazee and wife Thelma of Plymouth and Bernard Brown and wife Nancy of Norwich. Also surviving are his 23 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, nieces, nephews, cousins and his companion of many years Frances Spencer of Bainbridge.
Vance was predeceased by the mother of his children Ingrid Lester and his sister June Youngs.
A funeral service for Vance will be held on Friday, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Earlville will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in Plymouth.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 10-11 a.m.
