Geneva Stagaman

NORWICH – Geneva M. Stagaman, 79, long time Norwich area resident, passed away Friday afternoon, Aug. 7, 2009, at the Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City.
Geneva was born in January of 1930 in Pittsfield, the daughter of Leslie and Alta Garland Howe. She grew up in the Pittsfield and New Berlin area, where she attended and graduated from the New Berlin High School. On Dec. 24, 1947 in New Berlin, she married Ernest Stagaman, who passed away on June 29, 1983. In her early working years she had worked for the Knitting Mill both in Sherburne and Norwich. Geneva will best be remembered working for The Evening Sun delivering the paper on a daily basis throughout the countryside for over 26 years.
Geneva took great pride in her family, especially her grandchildren. If she had something to say she would say it, otherwise would remain quiet. She was always very proper in public, but at home would be herself.
Geneva is survived by her children: Ernest L. Stagaman Jr. of Norwich, Sue Dye and her husband Marvin of Niagara Falls, James Stagaman and his wife Sandy of Norwich and Betty Mundy and her husband Joe of McDonough; her grandchildren: Shane and Scott Stagaman, Tyler and Misty Stagaman, Michelle Hilson and husband Tyrone, James Dye, Troy Stagaman and Christopher Stagaman. Also surviving are several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Ernest, Geneva was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Howe.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Mt. Hope Cemetery. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford will officiate.
