GENE L. ALLEN
NORWICH – Gene L. Allen, 81, of Norwich passed away Tuesday evening, July 1, 2014 at his home.
Gene was born in Norwich on June 22, 1933 the son of Lewis and Bernice Allen. He attended the Norwich schools and following his education entered the United States Army serving his country from Oct 16, 1950 until his honorable discharge on Jan. 8, 1954. For a brief period of time Gene lived in the Schenectady area where he worked for the Overhead Door Co. of Albany. He returned to Norwich where he continued to make his home.
Gene enjoyed the outdoors and liked to spend time fishing. He also spent time doing carpenter work and just liked to tinker.
In 1982 Gene married Lisa Ferry in Sherburne who survives. Besides his wife Lisa he is survived by his children; Cathy Bradley of Norwich, Kim and Barbie of Texas, Scott, Noel and David Allen all of Texas, Marcia Allen and companion Kevin Davenport of Oxford, Matthew Allen and wife Charity of Norwich, Heather Shedd and husband Matthew of Sherburne, Brenda Allen of Binghamton and James Allen of Norwich. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Gene was predeceased by his sister Vivian and brother Dean.
In keeping with Gene’s wishes there will be no formal services and interment will be private.
