Mary Manley


Mary Manley of Norwich passed away on June 20, 2014 at M.I. Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown. She was born on February 20, 1933, a daughter of the late James (Jimmy) and Katherine Sidote Caruana.
She is survived by her children, Teri Prewitt of Edgewater, FL, Ronald and Danya Mirabito of Elkton, MD, Cyndy Robb of Statesville, NC, and Debi and Jeff Squires of Norwich; her grandchildren, Scott Prewitt of Sherburne, Kara Prewitt of Norwich, Rodd Mirabito, Rochelle Mirabito both of Maryland, Rosalind Mirabito of New York City, Sibrena Robb, Stephanie Robb, Shanna Miller and Christian Robb all of North Carolina, Ryan Downey, Kristy Taylor, Marissa Squires and Haley Squires all of New York, and Matt Mirabito, of New York, Brittany Mirabito of Florida and Ian Mirabito of New York. 21 great grandchildren also survive. She is also survived by her siblings, Louis and Jean Caruana of Temple, TX, Joseph and Delores Caruana of Garland, TX and Frances Nesbitt of Norwich. She was predeceased by her son Robert Mirabito.
Mary graduated from Oxford Academy and Central School. She had worked at Bennett-Ireland, Simmonds Precision before working in the Assessor’s office for the City of Norwich. She then became the sole assessor for the Towns of Norwich, Plymouth and Preston. She enjoyed reading and dancing. She loved her family and her cats.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 24 at 11 a.m. at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, NY with Rev. Ralph Bove of St. Bartholomew’s Church officiating. Burial was in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Norwich.
