Elizabeth Anne Shaffer


Elizabeth Anne Shaffer, 79 of Sidney, formerly of Norwich, passed away on June 19, 2014 at Willow Point Nursing Home, Vestal. She was born on February 10, 1935 in Centerville, MS, and raised in Natchez, MS.
A daughter of the late Thomas and Marguerite (Massey) Felter, she is survived by her children: Shalkye and Larry Clark of Kimballton, IA; Norman L. Jr. and Kathy Shaffer of Afton, NY; Shauna and Mark Rapuzzi of Guilford, NY; Robert Emerson and Debra Shaffer of Mt. Upton, NY; and Sharlisa (Lisa) and Lenny Robinson of Irwin, IA. She is survived by two sisters: Lydia and Floyd Gourley of Baton Rouge, LA, and Kay Baker of Ball Ground, GA. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, including Blair Elizabeth Anne Clark, born 5 hours before her passing. She was predeceased by her sons: Edward Lee Rushing, Charles Thomas Rushing, and her great grandson Christian Ray Pickett.
A graduate of Iowa Western Community College with a degree in Nursing (Class of 1984), she worked at Hopemont State Hospital in Terra Alta, WV for several years until retirement. Always putting loved ones first, she enjoyed the company of family and friends. She was an avid reader, especially of her Bible, and also thoroughly enjoyed knitting, baking and traveling.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Noon at the Greene Alliance Church, 126 Meadow Dr., Greene, NY with Pastor Jeff Cutting officiating. Burial will follow in North Afton Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greene Alliance Church, 126 Meadow Dr., Greene, NY 13778.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Kennedy Funeral Home, 21 N. Chenango St., Greene, NY.
