Richard Andrew Hendrickson

Richard Andrew Hendrickson, born July 16, 1934, died on May 8, 2014, after a short illness. He is survived by his sisters: Janet Sliter, Patricia Benane, Barbara Hodge, Jane Forrler and Jean Hannah; his first wife, Maxine Keefe and their children: David and Steven Hendrickson and Diane Collins, their children and grandchildren; his second wife, Billie Stratton Hendrickson and their children: Charlotte and Carolyn Hendrickson and step-daughter, Clarissa D’Ambra. He was pre-deceased by Linda Hendrickson, daughter of his first marriage.
With his wife, Billie, Richard owned and operated Arrow Laundry and Dry Cleaning Company in Norwich, Greene Spirits and Laundromat in Greene and the New Berlin Laundromat in New Berlin. For over thirty years, he owned and operated Cleaners Repair Service, repairing and selling commercial laundry and dry cleaning equipment across New York State and in New England. He installed and serviced many dry cleaning plants and laundromats with the help of his sons David and Steven. Most recently, he trained and worked with his youngest daughter, Carolyn, in the business of dry cleaning and laundromats.
For many of his younger years he struggled with the disease of alcoholism. With the grace of God he found sobriety, living a long and productive life. He was an inspiration to many. His family, friends and acquaintances send his soul love and best wishes on its continued journey. Those who wish can stop by Arrow Laundry on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday to share stories and remembrances about Richard with Billie.
The Serenity Prayer: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change... / courage to change the things I can / and wisdom to know the difference.
