RAYMOND C. FINCH
BETHLEHEM, PA – Raymond C. (Charlie) Finch, 86, passed away peacefully at the Moravian Health Center, Bethlehem, PA on April 19, 2014. Born in Dansville, NY, he was the son of Ray and Ruth Finch. Charlie graduated from Cornell University and the University of Buffalo. He worked for Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals and Proctor and Gamble as a research chemist for 35 years before retiring to Pennsylvania. He was a 40 plus year member of Boy Scouts of America where he received the Silver Beaver Award. He was Scout Master of Troop 63 in Norwich for many years. Charlie loved music. He was a member of a church choir from boyhood onwards. He also played the clarinet in various school and city bands, jazz bands and Dixieland bands. Charlie was a dedicated and active member of his church where he served in many church offices. He was a member and Moderator of the United Church of Christ, First Congregational in Norwich, and a member the Christ Church, UCC in Bethlehem. Charlie was an avid photographer and traveler. He and his wife traveled to all the world’s continents. He also enjoyed gardening, bowling and golf. Charlie is survived by his wife Margaret (Peggy) of 62 years, his children; Christopher Finch (Suzanne), Andrew Finch (Donna), Kimberley Ponzol (Danton), Hollister Finch (Don), and Devon McBride (Allen), grandchildren; William McBride, Benjamin Finch, Dante Ponzol, Danton Ponzol, and Daniel Ponzol, sister Elsie Hartmann. A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held on April 24 at 2 p.m. at Christ Church UCC, Bethlehem. Interment will be held at a later date at Greenmount Cemetery in Dansville.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Christ Church UCC music fund or to the Boy Scouts of America.
