Sandra M. (izard) Burk


Sandra M. (Izard) Burk, 66, of Norwich, passed away Wed. evening, April 16, 2014, at her home.
Sandy was born on July 26, 1947 in Norwich the daughter of Richard and Mildred (Spurling) Izard. She grew up in New Berlin and was a 1965 graduate of the New Berlin High School. Following her graduation Sandy worked a period of time for the Norwich Shoe Co., TACO located in Sherburne and Cornell Cooperative Ext. as a nutrition aide. She then gained employment with CWS in Norwich where she worked for 26 years working her way to manager of the cafeteria from which she retired. Not one to sit idle, Sandy then went to work for the Remember When Bed and Breakfast located in New Berlin.
In 1974 Sandy and her husband Charlie purchased a farm which they operated together for many years. She was involved with every aspect of the farm from haying to the milking. In addition to her farm chores, Sandy found enjoyment in baking for her family and friends and loved to spend time at the camp which they built located on the farm.
On Oct. 28, 1967, Sandy married Charles H. Burk Jr who survives. Besides her husband Charlie, she is survived by her sisters Betty MacGeen of Pulaski, TN, Brenda Weidman of New Berlin, Patricia Llewellyn of Sherburne, Pamela Weidman of New Berlin, Deborah Hyder and husband Cameal of New Berlin and Wanda Izard of Rochester and her brothers Bill Izard of So. New Berlin and Benjamin Izard and wife Sandra also of So. New Berlin. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Sandy will be held on Wed., April 23, at 4 p.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Kurt Funke will officiate.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Wed. from 2-4 p.m.
